Job market in Prior Lake for tech?

Hi all, Poverty rate is 1.4%, which is pretty low. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Would love some local perspective. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly.

We moved here with our family and I'm still on the fence after all this time. Schools in Greenfield area are excellent. Kids love it here.

I've lived in Uptown for about 11 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. When I first moved here from Phoenix, I was surprised by outdoor recreation. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- The public transit scene is improving

The downsides:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Road conditions need improvement

Overall I'd rate it 9/10 for young professionals. Good luck with whatever you decide..

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 4-bedroom. I have mixed feelings honestly. Compared to Phoenix it's hit or miss.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value safety, you'll love it. The school system is genuinely solid and I've found I'm still on the fence after all this time. My neighborhood (Midtown) is pricey and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Denver, be prepared for the culture shock. nightlife is completely different here. And Winters are long and cold.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

I've been living here for 3 years and I'd say I genuinely enjoy living here. The food scene is excellent compared to other places I've lived. Overall Happy to answer more specific questions..

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, it exceeded my expectations. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 5 years ago from Baltimore and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Older homes are where the value is. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Riverside. It's tough for what you get.

Jobs: The market is stable right now, especially in tech. If you're in legal you might struggle.

People: Generally hit or miss. It took about 6 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: pretty good. Tons of options if you like Southern.

Definitely worth checking out..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem hit or miss.

I've been here 8 years and it's improved dramatically in recent years. The thing nobody mentions is walkability. It's developing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the safety is legit. And if you're into fishing, this place is decent.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Uptown side vs the Lakewood side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Give it a chance - it might surprise you..
