Hey folks, I'm a college student here and Poverty rate is 7.4%, which is pretty low. With a population of 11,143, Progress is a small town. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Thoughts? Thanks for reading. The suburbs are where most families end up. The food scene here is surprisingly good.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.
Background: I'm a lawyer, 44, moved here 13 years ago from Dallas. I've lived in North and South, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Decent public transit for the size
2. Lots of new development happening
3. Four distinct seasons
4. The people are generally pretty good - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Urban sprawl is real
2. Homeless population growing downtown
3. The public transit situation is wild and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- North: Great for singles. solid vibes, walkable.
- South: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Dallas, everything felt challenging. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are pricey. Gas is wild. You can live comfortably on $90K-$140K here.
**Final verdict:**
Give it a chance - it might surprise you.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. it exceeded my expectations. Internet is hit or miss in most areas.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a electrician who relocated here from Minneapolis about 4 years ago. The main reasons were my partner's job and a fresh start.
Pros I've experienced:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Good airport with direct flights
- Diverse dining options
Cons that are real:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Chain restaurants dominate
Financially, we've found it surprisingly good compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are reasonable, gas is improving.
Socially, it's improved dramatically in recent years. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Came here for a fresh start and stayed because the quality of life is solid. The dating scene is honestly hit or miss and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Hot take but it's improved dramatically in recent years. I know a lot of people disagree but after 11 years here, that's my honest assessment.

We moved here with our family and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Schools in Old Town area are decent. Kids love it here.

Bought a house here in 2015 and I'm still on the fence after all this time. Property values have gone down slightly since then.
