Hi all, Household incomes average around $75,362 in Progress. With a population of 11,143, Progress is a small town. The unemployment rate is 2.2%, which is pretty low. The suburbs are where most families end up. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The weather takes some getting used to. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a contractor who relocated here from Charlotte about 9 years ago. The main reasons were family and weather.
Pros I've experienced:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Lots of new development happening
- Strong sense of community
Cons that are real:
- Winters are long and cold
- Chain restaurants dominate
Financially, we've found it hit or miss compared to where we came from. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. Groceries are stable, gas is underrated.
Socially, there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Definitely worth checking out..

I've lived in North for about 12 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
I have mixed feelings honestly. When I first moved here from San Francisco, I was surprised by pet-friendliness. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Four distinct seasons
- Good airport with direct flights
- The traffic scene is excellent
The downsides:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Bugs and humidity in summer
Overall I'd rate it 6/10 for couples. Good luck with whatever you decide..

I'm a marketing manager and I've found I'm still on the fence after all this time. The community is surprisingly good and there's always something going on.

Public transit is hit or miss here. You'll probably need a car for most things. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad.
