First time home buyer in Progress Village

Random thought, Military spouse here. The median home value here is around $266,200, which seems about average. Homes are going for about $266,200 on average. Rent is about $1,927/month for a decent place. Average temperature is around 73--F, so it's warm year-round. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Would love some local perspective. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The weather takes some getting used to. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The weather takes some getting used to. The city has invested a lot in new development.

I've lived in Lakewood for about 9 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I love the pace of life here. When I first moved here from Austin, I was surprised by dating scene. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Lots of new development happening
- The housing market scene is challenging

The downsides:
- Nightlife is limited
- Can feel isolated

Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for families. No regrets on my end..
