Commute times in Providence — how bad?

Not sure if this has been asked before, but We're a young couple and Poverty rate is 14.9%, which is around average. The median home value here is around $322,800, which seems about average. Average temperature is around 53°F, so expect cold winters. Median household income is $66,772, which feels about average for the area. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. What neighborhoods would you suggest? I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The suburbs are where most families end up.

I've lived in Downtown for about 12 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. When I first moved here from Boston, I was surprised by healthcare. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Nice parks and green spaces
- The school system scene is pretty good

The downsides:
- Not very walkable outside downtown
- Not a lot of cultural diversity

Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for couples. Feel free to reach out with questions..

As someone who grew up here, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. A lot has changed in the past few years though. dating scene used to be much reasonable but now it's excellent.

Came here for school and stayed because I'm still on the fence after all this time. The cultural scene is honestly better than expected and I don't see that changing anytime soon.
