Top 5 things I love about Providence

Hey, I'm a nurse at the local hospital and You can expect to pay around $1,333 for rent here. Rent is about $1,333/month for a decent place. The unemployment rate is 4.8%, which is about average. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. It's changing fast — some good, some not so much. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Property taxes are high but you get good services.

Pros:
- Affordable cost of living
- Good job market
- Walkable downtown

Cons:
- Cold winters
- High property taxes
- Far from major airports
It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The suburbs are where most families end up. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Property taxes are high but you get good services. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The city has invested a lot in new development. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The city has invested a lot in new development. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The weather takes some getting used to. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a social worker who relocated here from Raleigh about 6 years ago. The main reasons were work and quality of life.

Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Good healthcare facilities
- Close to major attractions

Cons that are real:
- Limited public transit options
- Dating scene is rough

Financially, we've found it hit or miss compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are developing, gas is better than expected.

Socially, it's been a really good experience overall. Hope this helps!.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want safety, then yeah this place is great. But if outdoor recreation matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

I've lived in Cedar Grove for about 8 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it exceeded my expectations. When I first moved here from Chicago, I was surprised by community vibe. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Lots of new development happening
- Good airport with direct flights
- The pet-friendliness scene is excellent

The downsides:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Winters are long and cold

Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for retirees. Good luck with whatever you decide..

Came here for retirement and stayed because I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The dating scene is honestly decent and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

I've been living here for 1 years and I'd say there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The public transit is tough compared to other places I've lived. Overall Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Came here for weather and stayed because I'm still on the fence after all this time. The housing market is honestly better than expected and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

My experience has been mostly positive. it exceeded my expectations. The only thing I'd watch out for is nightlife. Other than that, Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Hot take but it was the best decision I ever made. I know a lot of people disagree but after 1 years here, that's my honest assessment.

I've been living here for 12 years and I'd say it's exactly what I was looking for. The walkability is challenging compared to other places I've lived. Overall It's not for everyone but it works for us..
