Is Provo walkable?

Hello, Born and raised here. Crime rate is something to consider -Provo sits at 115.2 per 100K. Household incomes average around $62,800 in Provo. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Should I be concerned? The suburbs are where most families end up. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value cultural scene, you'll love it. The dating scene is genuinely surprisingly good and I've found the quality of life is solid. My neighborhood (Eastside) is competitive and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from LA, be prepared for the culture shock. pet-friendliness is completely different here. And Urban sprawl is real.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a nurse who relocated here from New York about 6 years ago. The main reasons were retirement and a job opportunity.

Pros I've experienced:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Good healthcare facilities
- Strong job market in several industries

Cons that are real:
- Not very walkable outside downtown
- Bugs and humidity in summer

Financially, we've found it decent compared to where we came from. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. Groceries are reasonable, gas is better than expected.

Socially, I genuinely enjoy living here. No regrets on my end..
