Alright, Born and raised here. It's a a mid-size city city with about 114K people. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a sales manager who relocated here from Charlotte about 8 years ago. The main reasons were a job opportunity and weather.
Pros I've experienced:
- Good schools in most areas
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Close to major attractions
Cons that are real:
- Nightlife is limited
- Not very walkable outside downtown
Financially, we've found it average compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are manageable, gas is surprisingly good.
Socially, there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 12 years ago from Pittsburgh and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Springfield. It's surprisingly good for what you get.
Jobs: The market is competitive right now, especially in construction. If you're in marketing you might struggle.
People: Generally pretty good. It took about 13 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: excellent. Tons of options if you like Indian.
Hope this helps!.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem surprisingly good.
I've been here 4 years and the quality of life is solid. The thing nobody mentions is safety. It's reasonable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the walkability is legit. And if you're into skiing, this place is excellent.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Uptown side vs the Eastside side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
