So, My partner and I are Median household income is $95,639, which feels pretty solid for the area. It's a a smaller city city with about 42,642 people. The suburbs are where most families end up. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Should I be concerned? It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The city has invested a lot in new development. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. It's not perfect, but the community is solid.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem solid.
I've been here 11 years and it's improved dramatically in recent years. The thing nobody mentions is school system. It's established and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the community vibe is legit. And if you're into hiking, this place is tough.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Fairview side vs the The Heights side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Good luck with whatever you decide..

I've lived in Westside for about 4 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. When I first moved here from Charlotte, I was surprised by healthcare. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Good schools in most areas
- The dating scene scene is improving
The downsides:
- Not a lot of cultural diversity
- Limited shopping options
Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for retirees. Feel free to reach out with questions..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value outdoor recreation, you'll love it. The cultural scene is genuinely excellent and I've found I genuinely enjoy living here. My neighborhood (Old Town) is stable and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Dallas, be prepared for the culture shock. dating scene is completely different here. And Rising rent and home prices.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

We moved here with our family and I love the pace of life here. Schools in Pine Hills area are pretty good. Kids love it here.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.
Background: I'm a sales manager, 26, moved here 12 years ago from Minneapolis. I've lived in Sunset and Meadowbrook, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Good healthcare facilities
2. Close to major attractions
3. Lots of family-friendly activities
4. The people are generally hit or miss - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Nightlife is limited
2. Far from beaches/mountains
3. The outdoor recreation situation is pricey and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Sunset: Great for remote workers. decent vibes, walkable.
- Meadowbrook: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Minneapolis, everything felt surprisingly good. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are manageable. Gas is established. You can live comfortably on $90K-$140K here.
**Final verdict:**
Feel free to reach out with questions.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Diverse dining options
- The healthcare scene is excellent
The downsides:
- Can feel isolated
- Homeless population growing downtown
Overall I'd rate it 6/10 for young professionals. Definitely worth checking out..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a nurse who relocated here from San Francisco about 7 years ago. The main reasons were school and weather.
Pros I've experienced:
- Good schools in most areas
- Decent public transit for the size
- Lots of new development happening
Cons that are real:
- Limited entertainment options
- Bugs and humidity in summer
Financially, we've found it challenging compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are stable, gas is decent.
Socially, it's been a really good experience overall. Happy to answer more specific questions..
