Freelancing from Puyallup -experience?

Longtime lurker here, We're a young couple and The unemployment rate is 3.6%, which is pretty low. The median home value here is around $507,000, which is pretty steep. With a population of 42,642, Puyallup is a smaller city. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. TIA! Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The weather takes some getting used to. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Property taxes are high but you get good services.

Used to live on the The Heights side, now on the Sunset side. Completely different vibe. I'm still on the fence after all this time.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a teacher who relocated here from Minneapolis about 9 years ago. The main reasons were weather and my partner's job.

Pros I've experienced:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Good internet infrastructure
- Lots of family-friendly activities

Cons that are real:
- Urban sprawl is real
- Far from beaches/mountains

Financially, we've found it tough compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are manageable, gas is hit or miss.

Socially, it's exactly what I was looking for. It's not for everyone but it works for us..
