Top 5 things I love about Puyallup

Been meaning to ask this. I'm a 51-year-old social worker and Crime rate is something to consider -Puyallup sits at 312.9 per 100K. The median home value here is around $507,000, which is pretty steep. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in Westside for 8 years. Moved from Denver for cost of living. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is solid. We bought in 2020 at k and it's now worth up a bit than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 1-bed in a safe area. Older homes are where the value is.

**Employment:**
marketing is strong here. hospitality is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are affordable for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
I genuinely enjoy living here. The outdoor scene is excellent - we have state parks within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Westside schools are pretty good. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Nightlife is limited. Chain restaurants dominate. And pet-friendliness can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For young professionals, I'd say this is a 8/10. Hope this helps!. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

Weather-wise, the summers are pretty good and winters are stable. You get used to it after the first year.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are excellent, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 14 years ago from Miami and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in North. It's decent for what you get.

Jobs: The market is developing right now, especially in government. If you're in hospitality you might struggle.

People: Generally better than expected. It took about 12 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: surprisingly good. Tons of options if you like Mexican.

Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Came here for a job opportunity and stayed because it exceeded my expectations. The community vibe is honestly excellent and I don't see that changing anytime soon.
