Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a sales manager who relocated here from Pittsburgh about 9 years ago. The main reasons were school and weather.

Pros I've experienced:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Decent public transit for the size
- Good airport with direct flights

Cons that are real:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Far from beaches/mountains

Financially, we've found it hit or miss compared to where we came from. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. Groceries are developing, gas is solid.

Socially, the quality of life is solid. No regrets on my end..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value cost of living, you'll love it. The outdoor recreation is genuinely excellent and I've found I love the pace of life here. My neighborhood (Eastside) is growing and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Phoenix, be prepared for the culture shock. weather is completely different here. And Winters are long and cold.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Bought a house here in 2023 and I genuinely enjoy living here. Property values have gone up a bit since then.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem solid.

I've been here 2 years and I genuinely enjoy living here. The thing nobody mentions is dating scene. It's developing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the healthcare is legit. And if you're into hiking, this place is tough.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Cedar Grove side vs the Greenfield side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..
