Hey, I grew up here but left for a while. Crime rate is something to consider -Quincy sits at 770.0 per 100K. Median household income is $34,126, which feels on the lower side for the area. It's a a small town city with about 7,818 people. Rent is about $1,022/month for a decent place. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The city has invested a lot in new development. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The suburbs are where most families end up. The weather takes some getting used to. It's not perfect, but the community is solid.

I've lived in Westside for about 14 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it's improved dramatically in recent years. When I first moved here from San Diego, I was surprised by traffic. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Good schools in most areas
- The job market scene is tough
The downsides:
- Not very walkable outside downtown
- Limited high-paying job options
Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for singles. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

As someone who grew up here, I love the pace of life here. A lot has changed in the past few years though. job market used to be much manageable but now it's average.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.
I've been in Sunset for 7 years. Moved from Atlanta for retirement. Here's my honest, detailed take:
**Housing:**
The market right now is decent. We bought in 2022 at k and it's now worth about the same than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 2-bed in a safe area. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts.
**Employment:**
healthcare is strong here. government is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are reasonable for the area.
**Quality of Life:**
there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The outdoor scene is pretty good - we have biking trails within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.
**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Sunset schools are solid. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.
**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Road conditions need improvement. Bugs and humidity in summer. And community vibe can be frustrating.
**Bottom line:**
For couples, I'd say this is a 9/10. Would recommend to anyone considering it.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is traffic. it was the best decision I ever made. Worth doing your research before committing.

The food scene here is hit or miss. Tons of great Vietnamese places. I'm still on the fence after all this time.
