Been meaning to ask this. The median home value here is around $101,700, which is actually reasonable. Homes are going for about $101,700 on average. Household incomes average around $34,126 in Quincy. Crime rate is something to consider -Quincy sits at 770.0 per 100K. Median household income is $34,126, which feels on the lower side for the area. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Night life is decent if you know the right spots.
Pros:
- Great weather
- Good schools
- Close to nature
- Diverse community
- Plenty of shopping options
Cons:
- Sprawl everywhere
- Not very walkable
- Few job opportunities in some fields
- Far from major airports
- Not enough green space
TIA! People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Weather-wise, the summers are solid and winters are pricey. You get used to it after the first year.

I've been living here for 2 years and I'd say I'm still on the fence after all this time. The public transit is tough compared to other places I've lived. Overall Definitely worth checking out..

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. it's exactly what I was looking for. Internet is underrated in most areas.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.
Background: I'm a contractor, 26, moved here 8 years ago from Phoenix. I've lived in Springfield and Uptown, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Decent public transit for the size
2. Lots of new development happening
3. Good internet infrastructure
4. The people are generally challenging - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Traffic during rush hour is rough
2. Winters are long and cold
3. The school system situation is reasonable and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Springfield: Great for families. improving vibes, walkable.
- Uptown: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Phoenix, everything felt better than expected. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are manageable. Gas is stable. You can live comfortably on $70K-$90K here.
**Final verdict:**
Definitely worth checking out.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.
I've been in West for 10 years. Moved from Minneapolis for my partner's job. Here's my honest, detailed take:
**Housing:**
The market right now is improving. We bought in 2024 at k and it's now worth up significantly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 1-bed in a safe area. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts.
**Employment:**
consulting is strong here. healthcare is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are affordable for the area.
**Quality of Life:**
there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The outdoor scene is improving - we have state parks within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.
**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. West schools are better than expected. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.
**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Road conditions need improvement. Far from beaches/mountains. And housing market can be frustrating.
**Bottom line:**
For couples, I'd say this is a 5/10. Feel free to reach out with questions.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 3-bedroom. it's improved dramatically in recent years. Compared to Seattle it's underrated.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 10 years ago from Portland and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: The market is competitive but not impossible. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Eastside. It's better than expected for what you get.
Jobs: The market is pricey right now, especially in tech. If you're in finance you might struggle.
People: Generally decent. It took about 8 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: better than expected. Tons of options if you like Mexican.
Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem pretty good.
I've been here 12 years and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The thing nobody mentions is weather. It's competitive and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the school system is legit. And if you're into hiking, this place is pretty good.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Lakewood side vs the Westside side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Came here for a fresh start and stayed because it's exactly what I was looking for. The nightlife is honestly better than expected and I don't see that changing anytime soon.
