Longtime lurker here, Just moved here 2 months ago and Crime rate is something to consider -Quincy sits at 398.5 per 100K. Rent is about $1,998/month for a decent place. The weather takes some getting used to. Thanks for reading. It's not perfect, but the community is solid.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 1 years ago from Charlotte and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in West. It's improving for what you get.
Jobs: The market is competitive right now, especially in manufacturing. If you're in hospitality you might struggle.
People: Generally solid. It took about 3 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: excellent. Tons of options if you like Korean.
Hope this helps!.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 4-bedroom. it's improved dramatically in recent years. Compared to Charlotte it's tough.

Used to live on the Eastside side, now on the North side. Completely different vibe. I genuinely enjoy living here.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Internet is improving in most areas.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.
Background: I'm a pharmacist, 29, moved here 10 years ago from Phoenix. I've lived in The Heights and Westside, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Good healthcare facilities
2. Strong job market in several industries
3. Strong sense of community
4. The people are generally excellent - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Property taxes are high
2. Dating scene is rough
3. The cost of living situation is developing and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- The Heights: Great for retirees. solid vibes, walkable.
- Westside: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Phoenix, everything felt solid. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are competitive. Gas is manageable. You can live comfortably on $50K-$150K here.
**Final verdict:**
Give it a chance - it might surprise you.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.
