Quincy vs Phoenix -which is better?

My family moved here when I was a kid. You can expect to pay around $1,998 for rent here. Crime rate is something to consider -Quincy sits at 398.5 per 100K. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Any advice would be great. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a pharmacist who relocated here from Portland about 11 years ago. The main reasons were school and family.

Pros I've experienced:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Good schools in most areas
- Good internet infrastructure

Cons that are real:
- Limited high-paying job options
- Homeless population growing downtown

Financially, we've found it surprisingly good compared to where we came from. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. Groceries are competitive, gas is hit or miss.

Socially, I'm still on the fence after all this time. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in West for 5 years. Moved from Tampa for quality of life. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is average. We bought in 2021 at k and it's now worth up a bit than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 3-bed in a safe area. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts.

**Employment:**
construction is strong here. retail is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are growing for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The outdoor scene is excellent - we have lakes within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. West schools are improving. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Limited high-paying job options. Not a lot of cultural diversity. And safety can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For young professionals, I'd say this is a 9/10. Hope this helps!. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Internet is underrated in most areas.

As someone who grew up here, I love the pace of life here. A lot has changed in the past few years though. traffic used to be much competitive but now it's pretty good.
