Not sure if this has been asked before, but My family moved here when I was a kid. With a population of 77,155, Racine is a smaller city. Rent is about $983/month for a decent place. You can expect to pay around $983 for rent here. Median household income is $55,705, which feels about average for the area. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The weather takes some getting used to.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want walkability, then yeah this place is great. But if weather matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

Weather-wise, the summers are underrated and winters are manageable. You get used to it after the first year.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem average.
I've been here 15 years and I have mixed feelings honestly. The thing nobody mentions is pet-friendliness. It's reasonable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the safety is legit. And if you're into skiing, this place is better than expected.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Westside side vs the West side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Good luck with whatever you decide..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a data analyst who relocated here from Chicago about 14 years ago. The main reasons were retirement and a fresh start.
Pros I've experienced:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Strong job market in several industries
- Strong sense of community
Cons that are real:
- Not very walkable outside downtown
- Dating scene is rough
Financially, we've found it decent compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are stable, gas is surprisingly good.
Socially, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..
