Anyone work in healthcare in Rahway?

Hey folks, I'm a nurse at the local hospital and You can expect to pay around $1,764 for rent here. Rent is about $1,764/month for a decent place. Homes are going for about $362,300 on average. Household incomes average around $90,852 in Rahway. The unemployment rate is 4.9%, which is about average. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The weather takes some getting used to. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. What are your go-to spots? The city has invested a lot in new development. Property taxes are high but you get good services. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem average.

I've been here 2 years and I have mixed feelings honestly. The thing nobody mentions is food scene. It's growing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the school system is legit. And if you're into surfing, this place is decent.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Pine Hills side vs the Midtown side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Hope this helps!.

We moved here with our family and I'm still on the fence after all this time. Schools in North area are excellent. Kids love it here.

I've been here 1 years and it exceeded my expectations. The thing nobody mentions is job market. It's established and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the healthcare is legit. And if you're into photography, this place is better than expected.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in West for 3 years. Moved from Portland for a job opportunity. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is tough. We bought in 2020 at k and it's now worth down slightly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 3-bed in a safe area. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable.

**Employment:**
manufacturing is strong here. engineering is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are manageable for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
I'm still on the fence after all this time. The outdoor scene is decent - we have state parks within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. West schools are challenging. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Traffic during rush hour is rough. Homeless population growing downtown. And weather can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For families, I'd say this is a 5/10. Feel free to reach out with questions.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

Hot take but it's improved dramatically in recent years. I know a lot of people disagree but after 5 years here, that's my honest assessment.
