First post here. I'm originally from Cleveland and The median home value here is around $362,300, which seems about average. Crime rate is something to consider -Rahway sits at 106.4 per 100K. Median household income is $90,852, which feels pretty solid for the area. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. What would you do? The weather takes some getting used to. The weather takes some getting used to. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. It's not perfect, but the community is solid.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 10 years ago from Raleigh and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Pine Hills. It's hit or miss for what you get.
Jobs: The market is growing right now, especially in consulting. If you're in legal you might struggle.
People: Generally tough. It took about 12 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: decent. Tons of options if you like BBQ.
Good luck with whatever you decide..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a software engineer who relocated here from Miami about 2 years ago. The main reasons were a job opportunity and retirement.
Pros I've experienced:
- Good schools in most areas
- Good healthcare facilities
- Affordable housing options
Cons that are real:
- Not very walkable outside downtown
- Not a lot of cultural diversity
Financially, we've found it underrated compared to where we came from. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. Groceries are developing, gas is decent.
Socially, it exceeded my expectations. Happy to answer more specific questions..
