I've lived in Pine Hills for about 6 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it's not perfect but it works for me. When I first moved here from Tampa, I was surprised by weather. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Strong job market in several industries
- The cultural scene scene is decent
The downsides:
- Winters are long and cold
- Road conditions need improvement
Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for young professionals. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value public transit, you'll love it. The job market is genuinely tough and I've found I have mixed feelings honestly. My neighborhood (Highland) is reasonable and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Atlanta, be prepared for the culture shock. cost of living is completely different here. And Summers can be brutally hot.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 1-bedroom. it's not perfect but it works for me. Compared to Salt Lake City it's challenging.

I genuinely enjoy living here. When I first moved here from San Francisco, I was surprised by school system. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- The nightlife scene is surprisingly good
The downsides:
- Chain restaurants dominate
- Limited shopping options
Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for couples. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..
