Co-working spaces in Raleigh worth it?

Not sure if this belongs here but We relocated for my husband's job in tech. I saw that rent in Holly Springs is now /mo which is expected. The suburbs vs city debate here is real. Anyone else feel the same?

Honestly it depends on what you prioritize. If career growth matters most, then yeah Raleigh is great. But if you need walkability, might want to look at Brier Creek instead.

I've been in ITB for 6 years and I feel like {city} is becoming more expensive without getting better.. The {industry} scene here is really picking up.

I'll give you a thorough answer since I've been through this exact situation.

I moved to Holly Springs from New York about 2 years ago. Initially it felt a bit lonely. But after settling in, Grocery prices are creeping up but still manageable..

A few things I'd recommend:
- Check out Holly Springs and Brier Creek for housing
- Try the farmers market on Saturday mornings
- Explore beyond the popular neighborhoods

The biggest adjustment was food scene. Nightlife is decent if you know where to go.. Overall I'd give Raleigh a 8/10 for retirees.

Gonna share a detailed perspective since most replies are pretty surface-level.

I'm a family with kids in Holly Springs. Been here since 2024. The community in {hood} is really tight-knit..

Neighborhood-wise, Holly Springs has really grown in the past few years. Wake Forest is the up-and-coming spot right now. Five Points is where I'd look if budget is a concern.

Job market for marketing: decent. For engineering: growing.

The school system in {hood} is actually {adj}.

Happy to answer questions.

OK let me break this down from someone who's been here a while.

Five Points vs Fuquay-Varina: completely different vibes. Five Points is more solid with artists and creative types. Fuquay-Varina is affordable and better for students.

Cost-wise, expect /mo minimum for anything decent in Five Points. In Fuquay-Varina you can find stuff for /mo.

The school system in {hood} is actually {adj}.. The weather took some getting used to but I actually love it now.

I'm a college grad in North Hills. Been here since 2021. The parks system here is underrated..

Neighborhood-wise, North Hills has really changed in the past few years. Oakwood is the up-and-coming spot right now. Garner is where I'd look if budget is a concern.

Job market for finance: great. For construction: up-and-coming.

I feel like {city} is becoming more expensive without getting better.

Not to be negative but the food scene is overrated. I still like living here overall though. Just keeping it real.

OK since this keeps coming up, here's my definitive Raleigh guide from someone who's been here way too long.

**Neighborhoods ranked (my opinion):**

Tier 1 (if you can afford it):
- North Hills: walkable, great restaurants, young crowd
- Oakwood: growing fast, get in now

Tier 2 (best value):
- Five Points: best value in the city
- Cary: quiet but close to everything

Avoid (unless you know what you're doing):
- I won't name names but do your research on anything significantly below market rate

**Cost Reality Check:**
- 1-bed decent area: /mo
- 2-bed decent area: /mo
- Groceries for 2: /mo
- Car insurance: hit or miss compared to national avg
- Utilities: /mo average

**The Honest Truth:**
Honestly the biggest downside is {downside}.. Raleigh is affordable but it's not for everyone. If you value quiet over nightlife, you'll love it. If it's the other way around, maybe consider Indianapolis.
