Considering Raleigh vs Nashville — help me decide

Hi all, I relocated for work and Average temperature is around 62°F, so the weather is moderate. The unemployment rate is 3.2%, which is pretty low. With a population of 471K, Raleigh is a mid-size city. It's a a mid-size city city with about 471K people. Rent is about $1,468/month for a decent place. The suburbs are where most families end up. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Thoughts? Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The suburbs are where most families end up. The city has invested a lot in new development. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The weather takes some getting used to. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. The city has invested a lot in new development. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. I'm a sales manager and I've found it's been a really good experience overall. The community is tough and there's always something going on.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a social worker who relocated here from New York about 8 years ago. The main reasons were retirement and a fresh start.

Pros I've experienced:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Strong job market in several industries
- Close to major attractions

Cons that are real:
- Limited public transit options
- Not very walkable outside downtown

Financially, we've found it excellent compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are stable, gas is average.

Socially, I'm still on the fence after all this time. Feel free to reach out with questions..
