What I love about living in Raleigh

I've been living in Raleigh, NC for 7 years now and honestly, there's a lot to love. The downtown area has been revitalized. Lots of local events and festivals. The community here is really tight-knit. If you're thinking about moving here, feel free to ask me anything.

Public transit needs work but they're investing in it. Should improve in next few years.

The job market has been improving lately. Several retail companies moved in recently.

I'd add that the parks here are amazing for families. Otherwise spot on!

If you can afford it, Oakwood is the best place to live. Period.

I work in healthcare and finding a job wasn't hard. Took about 6 months.

Good summary. I'd rate it higher personally — maybe 9/10.

Coming from San Francisco, the cost of living difference is noticeable. Groceries and gas are slightly more expensive but housing makes up for it.

Traffic is the worst part honestly. But if you live near work it's fine.

Weather is the biggest factor for us. Four seasons are nice, not too extreme either way.

Rent tip: look for places in January-February. Prices drop and there's more availability.
