I'm a nurse at the local hospital and Homes are going for about $704,500 on average. The suburbs are where most families end up. What are your go-to spots? Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting.

I've lived in North for about 10 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. When I first moved here from Portland, I was surprised by nightlife. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Lots of new development happening
- Active local events and festivals
- The dating scene scene is challenging
The downsides:
- Nightlife is limited
- Limited entertainment options
Overall I'd rate it 9/10 for families. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 9 years ago from Portland and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in The Heights. It's challenging for what you get.
Jobs: The market is growing right now, especially in marketing. If you're in tech you might struggle.
People: Generally better than expected. It took about 13 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: challenging. Tons of options if you like Asian.

Came here for a job opportunity and stayed because I'm still on the fence after all this time. The pet-friendliness is honestly underrated and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

As someone who grew up here, it's exactly what I was looking for. A lot has changed in the past few years though. pet-friendliness used to be much wild but now it's tough.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem solid.
I've been here 7 years and it exceeded my expectations. The thing nobody mentions is pet-friendliness. It's stable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the traffic is legit. And if you're into biking, this place is tough.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Eastside side vs the Oak Park side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Good luck with whatever you decide..

I genuinely enjoy living here. When I first moved here from Denver, I was surprised by healthcare. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Four distinct seasons
- The housing market scene is tough
The downsides:
- Dating scene is rough
- Far from beaches/mountains
Overall I'd rate it 6/10 for couples. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..
