The suburbs are where most families end up. Worth the trade-offs? It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a software engineer who relocated here from Atlanta about 2 years ago. The main reasons were retirement and weather.
Pros I've experienced:
- Lots of new development happening
- Good airport with direct flights
- Lots of family-friendly activities
Cons that are real:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Not a lot of cultural diversity
Financially, we've found it solid compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are established, gas is decent.
Socially, it's exactly what I was looking for. Good luck with whatever you decide..

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is traffic. I love the pace of life here. Worth doing your research before committing.
