Just moved to Rancho Cordova from Boston — first impressions

We made the move 4 ago and here are my first impressions:

There are tons of parks and outdoor spaces. Rent runs about $1,698/month for a typical apartment. Weather is moderate — about 61F average.

Biggest surprise: The food scene is way better than expected
Biggest disappointment: Nightlife is limited

Overall, there are worse places to be.

The food scene here is seriously underrated. So many great restaurants.

For families, I'd recommend looking at Pine Grove. Schools are rated well and it's quiet.

Great post! One thing I'd mention is drive around neighborhoods at different times before committing. Makes a big difference.

If you can afford it, Oakwood is the best place to live. Period.

As someone who moved here from Chicago, I can confirm most of this. The friendliness of people surprised me the most.

Totally agree with this. I've been here 1 years and my experience is very similar.

Check out the Maple Heights area. Way more affordable and still close to everything.

Downtown is overrated and overpriced. The suburbs offer way better value.

The job market has been improving lately. Several manufacturing companies moved in recently.
