Best restaurants in Rancho Palos Verdes?

First post here. The weather takes some getting used to. What neighborhoods would you suggest? Cheers.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want pet-friendliness, then yeah this place is great. But if housing market matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. it's exactly what I was looking for. Internet is improving in most areas.

Bought a house here in 2024 and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Property values have gone up a bit since then.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a pharmacist, 48, moved here 7 years ago from Tampa. I've lived in Riverside and Eastside, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Cost of living is very reasonable
2. Good healthcare facilities
3. Diverse dining options
4. The people are generally underrated - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Limited high-paying job options
2. Dating scene is rough
3. The nightlife situation is affordable and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Riverside: Great for couples. underrated vibes, walkable.
- Eastside: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Tampa, everything felt tough. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are stable. Gas is competitive. You can live comfortably on $90K-$120K here.

**Final verdict:**
Hope this helps!. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

I've lived in Downtown for about 12 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. When I first moved here from Salt Lake City, I was surprised by cost of living. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Good schools in most areas
- Good healthcare facilities
- The weather scene is challenging

The downsides:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Limited public transit options

Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for couples. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a physical therapist who relocated here from Dallas about 13 years ago. The main reasons were family and cost of living.

Pros I've experienced:
- Good airport with direct flights
- Diverse dining options
- Strong sense of community

Cons that are real:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Winters are long and cold

Financially, we've found it average compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are competitive, gas is tough.

Socially, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Happy to answer more specific questions..

Hot take but it's exactly what I was looking for. I know a lot of people disagree but after 2 years here, that's my honest assessment.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 12 years ago from San Diego and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Older homes are where the value is. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in North. It's underrated for what you get.

Jobs: The market is competitive right now, especially in consulting. If you're in consulting you might struggle.

People: Generally solid. It took about 16 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: challenging. Tons of options if you like Thai.

No regrets on my end..

Came here for my partner's job and stayed because I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The public transit is honestly challenging and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

I've lived in South for about 6 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it was the best decision I ever made. When I first moved here from Portland, I was surprised by dating scene. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Good schools in most areas
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- The community vibe scene is surprisingly good

The downsides:
- Limited high-paying job options
- Limited entertainment options

Overall I'd rate it 9/10 for remote workers. It's not for everyone but it works for us..
