Most overrated things about Rancho Palos Verdes

Anyone else feel this way? I'm single, late 50s, and Homes are going for about $1,541,400 on average. Average temperature is around 63--F, so the weather is moderate. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Worth the trade-offs? Thanks!

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a software engineer who relocated here from New York about 1 years ago. The main reasons were cost of living and a fresh start.

Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Strong job market in several industries
- Affordable housing options

Cons that are real:
- Winters are long and cold
- Nightlife is limited

Financially, we've found it average compared to where we came from. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. Groceries are developing, gas is excellent.

Socially, I'm still on the fence after all this time. No regrets on my end..

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, I love the pace of life here. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 1 years ago from San Francisco and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Older homes are where the value is. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Pine Hills. It's better than expected for what you get.

Jobs: The market is reasonable right now, especially in legal. If you're in legal you might struggle.

People: Generally pretty good. It took about 15 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: challenging. Tons of options if you like craft beer.

Definitely worth checking out..
