Cost of living reality check -Rancho Santa Margarita

Hey everyone, Household incomes average around $146,827 in Rancho Santa Margarita. The suburbs are where most families end up. The weather takes some getting used to. Would love some local perspective. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 14 years ago from Boston and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: The market is competitive but not impossible. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in The Heights. It's excellent for what you get.

Jobs: The market is stable right now, especially in engineering. If you're in marketing you might struggle.

People: Generally average. It took about 8 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: tough. Tons of options if you like Vietnamese.

It's not for everyone but it works for us..

My experience has been mostly positive. the quality of life is solid. The only thing I'd watch out for is outdoor recreation. Other than that, Hope this helps!.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want safety, then yeah this place is great. But if pet-friendliness matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.
