Freelancing from Rancho Santa Margarita -experience?

Anyone else feel this way? We're a young couple and Homes are going for about $907,900 on average. You can expect to pay around $2,481 for rent here. Rent is about $2,481/month for a decent place. Average temperature is around 67--F, so the weather is moderate. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Any help is appreciated. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. The suburbs are where most families end up. The weather takes some getting used to. The city has invested a lot in new development. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Property taxes are high but you get good services. It's not perfect, but the community is solid.

I've been living here for 5 years and I'd say I love the pace of life here. The healthcare is excellent compared to other places I've lived. Overall It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a electrician who relocated here from LA about 3 years ago. The main reasons were a fresh start and cost of living.

Pros I've experienced:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Close to major attractions
- Lots of family-friendly activities

Cons that are real:
- Limited public transit options
- Far from beaches/mountains

Financially, we've found it surprisingly good compared to where we came from. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. Groceries are competitive, gas is decent.

Socially, I love the pace of life here. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 6 years ago from Tampa and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in North. It's average for what you get.

Jobs: The market is developing right now, especially in manufacturing. If you're in manufacturing you might struggle.

People: Generally challenging. It took about 4 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: hit or miss. Tons of options if you like seafood.

Good luck with whatever you decide..
