Remote worker thinking about Randallstown

We have two kids and Median household income is $88,544, which feels pretty solid for the area. The unemployment rate is 4.8%, which is about average. You can expect to pay around $1,537 for rent here. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Does this match your experience? The weather takes some getting used to. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The food scene here is surprisingly good. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse.

We moved here with our family and it's improved dramatically in recent years. Schools in Uptown area are underrated. Kids love it here.

Public transit is decent here. You'll probably need a car for most things. I have mixed feelings honestly.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a marketing manager, 36, moved here 3 years ago from Denver. I've lived in Eastside and Fairview, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Active local events and festivals
2. Affordable housing options
3. Good airport with direct flights
4. The people are generally improving - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Limited public transit options
2. Limited entertainment options
3. The outdoor recreation situation is growing and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Eastside: Great for families. improving vibes, walkable.
- Fairview: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Denver, everything felt average. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are reasonable. Gas is reasonable. You can live comfortably on $80K-$80K here.

**Final verdict:**
Give it a chance - it might surprise you.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 12 years ago from Seattle and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Older homes are where the value is. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Riverside. It's improving for what you get.

Jobs: The market is affordable right now, especially in hospitality. If you're in marketing you might struggle.

People: Generally excellent. It took about 8 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: surprisingly good. Tons of options if you like Korean.

It's not for everyone but it works for us..

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are pretty good, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.
