Relocating to Rantoul, IL -pros and cons?

Hey everyone, Homes are going for about $109,200 on average. Poverty rate is 14.3%, which is around average. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Property taxes are high but you get good services. What are your go-to spots? Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a nurse who relocated here from San Diego about 4 years ago. The main reasons were cost of living and retirement.

Pros I've experienced:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Four distinct seasons
- Close to major attractions

Cons that are real:
- Limited public transit options
- Limited high-paying job options

Financially, we've found it challenging compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are growing, gas is average.

Socially, I'm still on the fence after all this time. Hope this helps!.
