Affordable areas near Rapid City?

Curious what people think. I work in legal and Crime rate is something to consider -Rapid City sits at 707.3 per 100K. The median home value here is around $270,000, which seems about average. The city has invested a lot in new development. TIA! Property taxes are high but you get good services.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a physical therapist who relocated here from Minneapolis about 6 years ago. The main reasons were retirement and my partner's job.

Pros I've experienced:
- Good healthcare facilities
- Close to major attractions
- Good airport with direct flights

Cons that are real:
- Property taxes are high
- Can feel isolated

Financially, we've found it pretty good compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are reasonable, gas is decent.

Socially, it's exactly what I was looking for. Happy to answer more specific questions..
