Housing market in Rapid City right now
So, I'm a 23-year-old teacher and It's a a smaller city city with about 76,836 people. Poverty rate is 7.8%, which is pretty low. Average temperature is around 48--F, so expect cold winters. Homes are going for about $270,000 on average. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. What do you all think? It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The weather takes some getting used to. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look.
