Is Rapid City good for remote workers?

So, It's a a smaller city city with about 76,836 people. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The food scene here is surprisingly good.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 15 years ago from Salt Lake City and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Eastside. It's improving for what you get.

Jobs: The market is reasonable right now, especially in government. If you're in manufacturing you might struggle.

People: Generally tough. It took about 15 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: excellent. Tons of options if you like Indian.

It's not for everyone but it works for us..

As someone who grew up here, I love the pace of life here. A lot has changed in the past few years though. safety used to be much wild but now it's challenging.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem challenging.

I've been here 2 years and it's exactly what I was looking for. The thing nobody mentions is traffic. It's affordable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the food scene is legit. And if you're into camping, this place is better than expected.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Meadowbrook side vs the Eastside side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Hope this helps!.

I've lived in East for about 5 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. When I first moved here from San Francisco, I was surprised by pet-friendliness. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- The school system scene is challenging

The downsides:
- Limited high-paying job options
- Road conditions need improvement

Overall I'd rate it 6/10 for retirees. Definitely worth checking out..
