Hey, I'm a teacher here and Worth the trade-offs? It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse.

Used to live on the Sunset side, now on the Pine Hills side. Completely different vibe. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad.

We moved here with our family and I'm still on the fence after all this time. Schools in Old Town area are better than expected. Kids love it here.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem hit or miss.

I've been here 1 years and it exceeded my expectations. The thing nobody mentions is safety. It's affordable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the school system is legit. And if you're into surfing, this place is decent.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Fairview side vs the Eastside side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Good luck with whatever you decide..

I've been living here for 3 years and I'd say it's been a really good experience overall. The pet-friendliness is excellent compared to other places I've lived. Overall Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

I work in finance here and I have mixed feelings honestly. The job market for my field is solid. Hope this helps!.
