Rent in Raymond getting crazy

Median household income is $106,696, which feels pretty solid for the area. The unemployment rate is 1.2%, which is pretty low. Crime rate is something to consider -Raymond sits at 43.8 per 100K. The median home value here is around $360,000, which seems about average. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Let me know your thoughts. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The suburbs are where most families end up. Property taxes are high but you get good services. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in Springfield for 8 years. Moved from New York for quality of life. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is hit or miss. We bought in 2017 at k and it's now worth up a bit than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 3-bed in a safe area. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals.

**Employment:**
construction is strong here. tech is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are affordable for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
it's exactly what I was looking for. The outdoor scene is excellent - we have biking trails within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Springfield schools are improving. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Summers can be brutally hot. Not very walkable outside downtown. And traffic can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For remote workers, I'd say this is a 9/10. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem solid.

I've been here 10 years and it's improved dramatically in recent years. The thing nobody mentions is dating scene. It's reasonable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the cost of living is legit. And if you're into golfing, this place is surprisingly good.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Greenfield side vs the Oak Park side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Happy to answer more specific questions..
