Been meaning to ask this. The median home value here is around $48,200, which is actually reasonable. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. What are your go-to spots?

I work in consulting here and I genuinely enjoy living here. The job market for my field is surprisingly good. Hope this helps!.

I've lived in Midtown for about 3 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it's not perfect but it works for me. When I first moved here from Phoenix, I was surprised by cost of living. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Lots of new development happening
- The housing market scene is decent
The downsides:
- Property taxes are high
- Far from beaches/mountains
Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for young professionals. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 4-bedroom. it's been a really good experience overall. Compared to Baltimore it's excellent.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value weather, you'll love it. The traffic is genuinely excellent and I've found I love the pace of life here. My neighborhood (Springfield) is stable and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Seattle, be prepared for the culture shock. housing market is completely different here. And Limited high-paying job options.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.
