Hey, I'm a college student here and Crime rate is something to consider -Raymondville sits at 1,156.6 per 100K. Household incomes average around $42,148 in Raymondville. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Any advice would be great. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly.

My experience has been mostly positive. it's not perfect but it works for me. The only thing I'd watch out for is cost of living. Other than that, Definitely worth checking out..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value housing market, you'll love it. The safety is genuinely hit or miss and I've found it's not perfect but it works for me. My neighborhood (Springfield) is manageable and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from New York, be prepared for the culture shock. dating scene is completely different here. And Summers can be brutally hot.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.
