Just moved to Raymondville, any tips?

It's a a small town city with about 10,243 people. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Should I be concerned? I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The weather takes some getting used to. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a software engineer who relocated here from Pittsburgh about 2 years ago. The main reasons were a job opportunity and my partner's job.

Pros I've experienced:
- Good schools in most areas
- Good airport with direct flights
- Lots of family-friendly activities

Cons that are real:
- Limited public transit options
- Limited entertainment options

Financially, we've found it underrated compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are growing, gas is tough.

Socially, I have mixed feelings honestly. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value walkability, you'll love it. The pet-friendliness is genuinely improving and I've found it exceeded my expectations. My neighborhood (Maple Ridge) is affordable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Denver, be prepared for the culture shock. food scene is completely different here. And Not a lot of cultural diversity.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Internet is pretty good in most areas.

I've lived in Pine Hills for about 7 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. When I first moved here from Charlotte, I was surprised by traffic. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Good internet infrastructure
- Active local events and festivals
- The traffic scene is improving

The downsides:
- Can feel isolated
- Far from beaches/mountains

Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for singles. Feel free to reach out with questions..

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are decent, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.
