Raising a family in Reading -thoughts?
Hi all, I'm a teacher here and Rent is about $1,722/month for a decent place. The unemployment rate is 2.1%, which is pretty low. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The city has invested a lot in new development. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable.
