Cheapest neighborhoods in Reading?

First post here. I'm a remote worker and Poverty rate is 23.1%, which is higher than I expected. Average temperature is around 55--F, so the weather is moderate. It's a a smaller city city with about 94,836 people. You can expect to pay around $1,018 for rent here. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting.

Pros:
- Nice parks and trails
- Low crime in most areas
- Close to nature
- Good internet infrastructure
- Active local events

Cons:
- Traffic can be terrible
- Rising rent prices
- Boring for young people
- Poor road conditions
Is this normal for Reading? I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The city has invested a lot in new development. The city has invested a lot in new development. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The weather takes some getting used to. The weather takes some getting used to. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The suburbs are where most families end up. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem decent.

I've been here 13 years and it exceeded my expectations. The thing nobody mentions is traffic. It's growing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the cost of living is legit. And if you're into running, this place is excellent.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The North side vs the Fairview side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Hot take but it's been a really good experience overall. I know a lot of people disagree but after 1 years here, that's my honest assessment.
