Moving from Raleigh to Reading next month

Hello, Been living here since 2024. The unemployment rate is 7.5%, which is concerning. Average temperature is around 55--F, so the weather is moderate. Crime rate is something to consider -Reading sits at 865.1 per 100K. Homes are going for about $109,800 on average. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. What neighborhoods would you suggest? The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The city has invested a lot in new development. The suburbs are where most families end up.

Public transit is better than expected here. You'll probably need a car for most things. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad.
