Hi all, I relocated for work and It's a a smaller city city with about 94,836 people. Rent is about $1,018/month for a decent place. Average temperature is around 55--F, so the weather is moderate. The city has invested a lot in new development. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Thanks for reading. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The weather takes some getting used to. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a data analyst who relocated here from Minneapolis about 4 years ago. The main reasons were a job opportunity and school.
Pros I've experienced:
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Good healthcare facilities
- Close to major attractions
Cons that are real:
- Limited public transit options
- Can feel isolated
Financially, we've found it surprisingly good compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are wild, gas is pretty good.
Socially, the quality of life is solid. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

I'm a nurse who relocated here from Austin about 5 years ago. The main reasons were my partner's job and school.
Pros I've experienced:
- Good schools in most areas
- Four distinct seasons
- Lots of family-friendly activities
Cons that are real:
- Property taxes are high
- Limited entertainment options
Financially, we've found it pretty good compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are developing, gas is decent.
Socially, there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 1-bedroom. it's not perfect but it works for me. Compared to Atlanta it's excellent.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.
I've been in Maple Ridge for 5 years. Moved from San Diego for school. Here's my honest, detailed take:
**Housing:**
The market right now is excellent. We bought in 2019 at k and it's now worth up significantly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 3-bed in a safe area. Older homes are where the value is.
**Employment:**
legal is strong here. manufacturing is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are affordable for the area.
**Quality of Life:**
it's not perfect but it works for me. The outdoor scene is underrated - we have beaches within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.
**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Maple Ridge schools are better than expected. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.
**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Not very walkable outside downtown. Chain restaurants dominate. And cultural scene can be frustrating.
**Bottom line:**
For couples, I'd say this is a 8/10. Good luck with whatever you decide.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.
