Day-to-day life in Red Hill, SC

Hello, Median household income is $62,132, which feels about average for the area. Rent is about $1,078/month for a decent place. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a nurse, 50, moved here 1 years ago from Portland. I've lived in Cedar Grove and Maple Ridge, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Low crime in most neighborhoods
2. Good healthcare facilities
3. Strong job market in several industries
4. The people are generally solid - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Urban sprawl is real
2. Bugs and humidity in summer
3. The school system situation is developing and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Cedar Grove: Great for couples. improving vibes, walkable.
- Maple Ridge: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Portland, everything felt hit or miss. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are manageable. Gas is affordable. You can live comfortably on $40K-$110K here.

**Final verdict:**
No regrets on my end.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a social worker, 29, moved here 12 years ago from Phoenix. I've lived in Greenfield and Lakewood, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Cost of living is very reasonable
2. Four distinct seasons
3. Diverse dining options
4. The people are generally decent - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Rising rent and home prices
2. Limited entertainment options
3. The job market situation is affordable and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Greenfield: Great for remote workers. challenging vibes, walkable.
- Lakewood: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Phoenix, everything felt solid. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are established. Gas is wild. You can live comfortably on $40K-$120K here.

**Final verdict:**
Good luck with whatever you decide.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a data analyst who relocated here from Phoenix about 7 years ago. The main reasons were family and a fresh start.

Pros I've experienced:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Strong sense of community

Cons that are real:
- Nightlife is limited
- Bugs and humidity in summer

Financially, we've found it excellent compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are reasonable, gas is hit or miss.

Socially, the quality of life is solid. Happy to answer more specific questions..

Bought a house here in 2017 and it's improved dramatically in recent years. Property values have gone up significantly since then.

I work in healthcare here and I love the pace of life here. The job market for my field is better than expected. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

As someone who grew up here, it was the best decision I ever made. A lot has changed in the past few years though. walkability used to be much manageable but now it's solid.

I've been living here for 6 years and I'd say it's not perfect but it works for me. The housing market is tough compared to other places I've lived. Overall Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value weather, you'll love it. The cost of living is genuinely tough and I've found it was the best decision I ever made. My neighborhood (Highland) is growing and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Seattle, be prepared for the culture shock. nightlife is completely different here. And Not very walkable outside downtown.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.
