Is public transit usable in Red Hill?

Hello, I'm a college student here and Homes are going for about $223,900 on average. You can expect to pay around $1,078 for rent here. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Let me know your thoughts. Thanks! The city has invested a lot in new development.

As someone who grew up here, I genuinely enjoy living here. A lot has changed in the past few years though. healthcare used to be much affordable but now it's pretty good.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a contractor, 54, moved here 13 years ago from Nashville. I've lived in Downtown and Midtown, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Good schools in most areas
2. Good internet infrastructure
3. Four distinct seasons
4. The people are generally tough - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Property taxes are high
2. Dating scene is rough
3. The healthcare situation is stable and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Downtown: Great for remote workers. improving vibes, walkable.
- Midtown: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Nashville, everything felt better than expected. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are established. Gas is reasonable. You can live comfortably on $50K-$150K here.

**Final verdict:**
No regrets on my end.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

My experience has been mostly positive. I genuinely enjoy living here. The only thing I'd watch out for is housing market. Other than that, Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 4 years ago from Denver and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Older homes are where the value is. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Old Town. It's underrated for what you get.

Jobs: The market is growing right now, especially in healthcare. If you're in tech you might struggle.

People: Generally tough. It took about 12 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: hit or miss. Tons of options if you like Mediterranean.

Good luck with whatever you decide..

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are underrated, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a contractor who relocated here from Portland about 13 years ago. The main reasons were cost of living and weather.

Pros I've experienced:
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Lots of new development happening
- Active local events and festivals

Cons that are real:
- Dating scene is rough
- Limited entertainment options

Financially, we've found it excellent compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are established, gas is hit or miss.

Socially, it's exactly what I was looking for. Good luck with whatever you decide..

We moved here with our family and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Schools in Lakewood area are pretty good. Kids love it here.

Bought a house here in 2022 and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Property values have gone down slightly since then.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem excellent.

I've been here 10 years and I have mixed feelings honestly. The thing nobody mentions is housing market. It's established and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the cost of living is legit. And if you're into biking, this place is tough.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Uptown side vs the Eastside side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Good luck with whatever you decide..
