Random thought, Just moved here 9 months ago and The median home value here is around $318,200, which seems about average. With a population of 15,909, Red Oak is a small town. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Anyone in a similar situation? Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The weather takes some getting used to. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. I'd say it's better for families than young singles.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, it's exactly what I was looking for. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a data analyst who relocated here from Nashville about 11 years ago. The main reasons were weather and family.
Pros I've experienced:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Decent public transit for the size
- Lots of new development happening
Cons that are real:
- Property taxes are high
- Bugs and humidity in summer
Financially, we've found it surprisingly good compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are stable, gas is better than expected.
Socially, it exceeded my expectations. Definitely worth checking out..

The food scene here is better than expected. Tons of great seafood places. I have mixed feelings honestly.
