First post here. Household incomes average around $69,443 in Redding. Average temperature is around 63--F, so the weather is moderate. The weather takes some getting used to. The food scene here is surprisingly good. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Am I overthinking this? It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting.

I've lived in West for about 9 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
I have mixed feelings honestly. When I first moved here from LA, I was surprised by safety. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- The safety scene is surprisingly good
The downsides:
- Limited shopping options
- Homeless population growing downtown
Overall I'd rate it 6/10 for young professionals. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. I'm still on the fence after all this time. Internet is excellent in most areas.

Used to live on the Pine Hills side, now on the Fairview side. Completely different vibe. I love the pace of life here.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is safety. I love the pace of life here. Worth doing your research before committing.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value nightlife, you'll love it. The walkability is genuinely solid and I've found it was the best decision I ever made. My neighborhood (Old Town) is reasonable and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Minneapolis, be prepared for the culture shock. walkability is completely different here. And Nightlife is limited.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.
