Is Redlands still affordable?

Hi all, I relocated for work and Average temperature is around 65--F, so the weather is moderate. You can expect to pay around $1,883 for rent here. With a population of 72,985, Redlands is a smaller city. Homes are going for about $583,000 on average. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The city has invested a lot in new development. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The suburbs are where most families end up. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus.

Pros:
- Friendly people
- Easy commute
- Plenty of shopping options

Cons:
- Traffic can be terrible
- Lack of diversity
- Limited cultural events
- Chain restaurants dominate
Let me know your thoughts. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 1 years ago from New York and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Lakewood. It's hit or miss for what you get.

Jobs: The market is developing right now, especially in legal. If you're in retail you might struggle.

People: Generally pretty good. It took about 14 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: average. Tons of options if you like farm-to-table.

Happy to answer more specific questions..

Jobs: The market is competitive right now, especially in manufacturing. If you're in manufacturing you might struggle.

People: Generally surprisingly good. It took about 6 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: average. Tons of options if you like Korean.

Good luck with whatever you decide..

My experience has been mostly positive. it's improved dramatically in recent years. The only thing I'd watch out for is outdoor recreation. Other than that, Hope this helps!.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want cultural scene, then yeah this place is great. But if walkability matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.
