Couple moving to Redmond from out of state

Random thought, You can expect to pay around $1,479 for rent here. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods.

I've lived in Highland for about 15 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I have mixed feelings honestly. When I first moved here from Pittsburgh, I was surprised by dating scene. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Good internet infrastructure
- Four distinct seasons
- The pet-friendliness scene is challenging

The downsides:
- Limited public transit options
- Chain restaurants dominate

Overall I'd rate it 6/10 for remote workers. Good luck with whatever you decide..

Weather-wise, the summers are pretty good and winters are reasonable. You get used to it after the first year.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is job market. I'm still on the fence after all this time. Worth doing your research before committing.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a project manager, 33, moved here 5 years ago from Pittsburgh. I've lived in Downtown and Maple Ridge, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Nice parks and green spaces
2. Four distinct seasons
3. Affordable housing options
4. The people are generally improving - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Summers can be brutally hot
2. Chain restaurants dominate
3. The public transit situation is established and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Downtown: Great for families. excellent vibes, walkable.
- Maple Ridge: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Pittsburgh, everything felt decent. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are reasonable. Gas is manageable. You can live comfortably on $100K-$150K here.

**Final verdict:**
Feel free to reach out with questions.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.
